Poor housing can have a negative effect on the lives and progress of children

29th November 06. The housing charity Shelter produced a report showing how poor housing can influence children. Government figures also show a link between poor housing and long term disability. Rates of truancy and exclusions were also higher among those children in poor housing. See more.

Spending time in the country can reduce sickness

8th November 2006. A campaign is being launched to try and get people to spend more time in the countryside. Being closer to nature can cut stress, and through that come many benefits. Also, children with attention difficulties showed improvements when in the country, and patients recovering from operations were found to recover more quickly and need less painkillers if they are overlooking fields.
